Questions
Clear answers before you begin.
How online care works, what each service is for, and how the team helps you find the right fit.
Is everything online?
Yes. Sound Mind does not offer in-person services. Therapy is available to adults located in Virginia during sessions. Coaching is available nationwide and internationally.
What is the difference between therapy and coaching?
Therapy is clinical care for concerns such as anxiety, burnout, grief, low mood, and patterns affecting daily life. Coaching is forward-focused work around a defined goal, with clarity, action, and accountability. Coaching does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions.
Do I need to choose a practitioner first?
No. The short intake questionnaire helps clarify service fit and routes you toward the right practitioner. If the answer is not obvious, start with the team and we will help.
Can the same person be my therapist and coach?
No. To avoid a dual-role conflict, one practitioner will not serve as both therapist and coach for the same individual. When another role fits better, Sound Mind can coordinate a referral within the practice when appropriate.
Do you take insurance?
Sessions are private pay. For therapy, a detailed superbill can be provided for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Coverage depends on your plan. CarePatron handles booking and billing for both therapy and coaching.
How much is coaching?
Rates are set per practitioner. Theresa’s introductory coaching offer is $695 for 6 sessions. Heidi is a Board Certified Coach candidate, so her 6-session package is offered at a reduced candidate rate of $495. Every engagement starts with a free 30-minute discovery call.
How do I book?
Theresa and Heidi temporarily have separate CarePatron links while the practice team calendar is being completed. Theresa’s link is live now. Heidi’s will be added as soon as it is provided.
Do you offer crisis or emergency services?
No. Sound Mind is not a crisis service. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) or go to your nearest emergency room.
Still deciding?
You do not have to choose alone.
